Javascript Developer

Role Description:

We are seeking a Javascript Developer who is capable of delivering new features in our Opsview product suite. This new role provides a real opportunity at the start of an exciting period of growth where your dynamism and vision could have a direct influence on the success of our Opsview business.

You will work as a member of our engineering team whose primary responsibility is to build great new features as they are prioritised by our product manager. You will report to the Engineering Team Leader.

Training will be provided in Opsview and other open source tools, but prior knowledge of these or similar products would be advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Developing software for our Opsview product suite
• Reviewing and contributing to functional specifications and detailed technical designs
• Developing and unit testing to these detailed designs
• Validating engineering estimates and timescales, and taking responsibility for meeting the resulting deadlines
• Maintaining current technical documentation at the code, design and user levels
• Maintaining the software on an ongoing basis
• Liaising with our dedicated product support team to assist with troubleshooting and fixing customer raised defects

Required skills:

• 3+ years of experience with JavaScript
• Expert understanding of HTML5 and CSS2/3
• Experience with Javascript testing frameworks
• Experience working with MVC backend frameworks and REST APIs
• Experience working in continuous integration environments
• Experience conducting code reviews
• Experience of software development processes
• Experience in writing unit tests
• Computer Science, Mathematics or similar degree
• Experience of working within an agile scrum team

Desired skills:

• Prior experience of working for a small, high-growth company
• Experience in version control systems, such as Subversion or Git
• Experience in testing with Selenium
• Experience of working with the ExtJS v4 or a similar Javascript framework
• Experience with Unix/Linux
• Experience with SQL for MySQL
• Experience developing on LAMP architectures

You must be a high energy self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision and comfortable working within a framework of objectives without the need for day to day guidance and direction.
